CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: 2022 Inter-Regional Research Symposium

In partnership with the European Union Support to Higher Education in the ASEAN Region (SHARE) Programme, the ASEAN Secretariat, and other regional stakeholders, SEAMEO RIHED's Inter-Regional Research Symposium is being relaunched on 24-25 November 2022 at the Asia Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, with a renewed emphasis on Sustainable Learning in Higher Education: Towards Sustainable Development.

The 2022 Inter-regional Research Symposium aims to explore the concept of sustainable learning from different perspectives to consider the multiple and innovative ways that teaching and learning are contributing towards Sustainable Development. It will explore the creation of new equitable spaces and modes of formal and non-formal learning geared towards sustainability as well as the introduction of alternative and digital credentials to assess learning. The Symposium will also explore aspects of how partnerships between universities, industry and their communities are contributing local solutions through shared learning to global challenges.

The 2022 Inter-Regional Research Symposium welcomes research addressing: 1) creating equitable learning spaces for Sustainable Development; 2) digital transformation, skills, and credentials; and 3) advancing partnerships and sustainable communities

SUGGESTED TOPICS

Theme 1: Education for Sustainable Development, Global Citizenship Education, advancing SDGs in the curriculum and teaching and learning, equitable and sustainable learning spaces and environments

Theme 2: Access, equity and inclusion, blended, hybrid modes of learning, new hybrid or virtual programmes, recognition and micro-credentials, digital badges, and alternative qualifications

Theme 3: University-community engagement, industry partnerships, local solutions for global challenges, experiential and participatory learning programmes and building sustainable communities

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

All interested young and experienced researchers, academics, practitioners, faculty and lifelong learners across higher education institutions, research centres, other regional, non-governmental and international organisations and industry with a professional interest in the contributions of higher education towards sustainable development are invited to attend and submit their abstract proposals for the opportunity to present in person at SEAMEO RIHED’s 2022 Inter-Regional Research Symposium. Abstract submission and acceptance are compulsory if authors wish to deliver presentations at the 2022 Inter-Regional Research Symposium. Kindly take note of the following:

• Abstracts must be submitted on or before Friday 23 September 2022, to SEAMEO RIHED through the Abstract submission portal at the bottom of this page.
• Abstracts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format or as PDF document.
• Every submitted abstract will go through a screening process, the results of which will be announced by Friday 30 September 2022.

After you receive notification that your abstract is accepted, you are welcome to arrange for your travel and registration to the Symposium. Kindly note that limited sponsorship is available to researchers from select countries and more information will become available soon. 

For those wishing to provide a full academic or research paper for review based on their abstract proposals, a new online platform developed by SEAMEO RIHED and the region’s partners in higher education will be announced and launched at the Symposium with further information on the submission and review process detailed.
