The SHARE Workshop on the Impact of Regional Quality Assurance Standards on Higher Education in Cambodia was held at the Apsara Angkor Hotel, Siem Reap on 20 September 2017, hosted by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The Workshop was held to disseminate the ASEAN Quality Assurance Framework to a Cambodian audience, enhance Internal and External Quality Assurance capabilities of Cambodian Higher Education Institutions and the Accreditation Committee of Cambodia.
94 representatives from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, 22 Higher Education Institutions, Professional Bodies, Industry representatives and the Accreditation Committee Cambodia attended the two days event. In addition, two delegations from the National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Committee Myanmar and the Education Standard and Quality Assurance Centre (EQAC), Lao PDR also attended the event on behalf of their institutions. The objectives of the workshop were raising awareness and facilitating a better understanding on the state of development of the regional QA framework (AQAF) among the higher education community; analysing the existing external QA structures at national levels against the background of regional standards as laid down in the AQAF; discussing with ministry, university leadership, quality assurance staff at universities and the agency the relevance and possible consequences of the regional framework on national regulations and practices.
Speakers from Taiwan, Germany, Malaysia, Australia, the Philippines shared their views on the topic with the Cambodian audience.
